Los 43 mejores lugares para nueva comida mexicana en Phoenix (2024)

If you're in the mood for some delicious Mexican food, Taco Guild is a great place to go. The restaurant has an atmospheric setting perfect for enjoying your meal, and their tacos are some of the best in the country. You can either order food to be delivered to your doorstep or dine in at one of the restaurants cathedral-style dining rooms.

Talk about an experience. Firstly to use an old church and make it ta Taco restaurant gives such a nice vibe. As a woodworker I appreciate the woodworking inside. The decorations are tasteful and still tie into the vibe of the church and culture. The Tacos were great. Guacamole and 4 options of sauces. It's definitely some place I want to come back to. We did have a large group for a work event and it went very smoothly. Staff was amazing and the south end of the church was able to accommodate all of us.

My friends and I visited this cool restaurant based on a tip from a local who one of our friends chatted up doing personal business by phone. Great tip! I would start out saying that this rating is actually 4.5 stars. Other than our server who was slow, not terribly attentive and then misunderstood us, this restaurant is fantastic. Great tequila collection with great margaritas and other tequila cocktails. Food was also amazing with handmade corn tortillas that are fresh, great salsas and great taco fillings. The tortilla chips were of course fantastic as well. We ate far too many due to our slow service. Definitely recommend and hope that they train up all of their servers.

My wife and I went here based on the reviews we saw and the uniqueness of the building itself. While the inside of this place is gorgeous and really cool, the food was far from good, we ordered 3 different dishes and not one tiny bit of flavor in any of these dishes, although everything looked nice it was all very bland. I believe this is more of a hang out spot for people to do happy hour more then it is a place to go for great food since we witnessed Alot of people drinking. We really love Mexican food but this place really fell very far from the mark. It's the 1st time I've ever had bland, tasteless Mexican food in all my years of being a foodie. We were very disappointed so we left most the dishes there, paid and went to our friends place who made excellent tacos which made up for the night. Will we go back, no definitely not!

I ordered 3 different Tacos 🌮, they are like $8 each, lamb taste was really strong even for me who loves lamb and salty, carnitas was salty and dry, Al pastor was okay, but can’t taste any pineapple. All of them taste the same to me and salty, I had to put guacamole on it to tone it down. Salsa for the chips were the best. Waiter was super nice, building is a historic church.

Overall, Taco Guild was a good experience. It’s inside what looks like an old church with stained glass windows and Bible verses on the windows.Service was excellent and the menu large. My grilled shrimp tacos on flour were so tasty as was the elote. The warm chips and four salsas they bring out for free hit the spot too. However, my wife said her pork taco was horrible. They have a large drink menu, including hard cider and sours. The strawberry rhubarb sour was good!

What a cool and delicious dinner! This restaurant is in a renovated church and the tacos + tequila is fantastic. Go for the bone marrow, steak + duck tacos and churros! Our server was extremely friendly and quick, her name was Sofia/Sophia. What really stole the show food wise was the street corn, get it Guild style and enjoy the spicy flavor!

Kelly S — Google review

What a great place! Love the ambience and the fact the building is an old church, stained glass windows and all! Full bar. Chips and salsa were very good. Lots of tacos to choose from. I chose the Chicken Tinga, the El Pastor and a taco with roasted cauliflower/cabbage (don't remember the name). All were delicious. Only complaint was the corn shell fell apart as soon as I picked it up so had to eat it with a fork. 🤷 My friend ordered the charred romaine salad which she absolutely loved. I will definitely come back!👍

Our first experience and it was nice. Good decor and unique. We got sat next to the restroom and could smell it which wasn't ideal. The history on the walls was neat to read. The food and drinks were good, little pricey imo. I had the Smoke on the Water margarita and would order it again. I love a good craft drink! There were 4 salsas and I liked them all!

Really enjoyed this place! I had been hearing about it from friends, but just hadn't made it over yet. I love Mexican food and this place has some great spins on traditional Mexican fare! Tacos were awesome. My wife had the quesadilla and loved it. The service was outstanding - some of the most attentive, friendly and knowledgeable I've ever had. The atmosphere is also really amazing and different. This is an old church, converted into a restaurant/bar. It's amazing just to look around at the stained glass and painted ceilings. The old altar is the bar, which is an interesting commentary all on its own! Great experience and enthusiastically recommended!

Came here after a business meeting with an out-of-town manager. Absolutely delicious food. Service was impeccable. Love the atmosphere, except the noise level. I guess if you're inside an old church you're going to get that. Not a reason not to go.

Great place, interesting decoration , some are from previous church.Nice live music. Big bar.Nice outdoor patio.Food is very good from tacos to grilled burrito. Favorite was the octopus tacos. Good drinks.

Had been meaning to try this place for a while and finally got the chance to go experience it. Loved the concept of it being in a former church with orignal vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows and murals Even though we had reservations, we decided to sit at the bar. The bartenders were phenomenal . Loved the place, the food, the ambiance, the decor. and what a cool concept. It was pretty packed and I would highly recommend making reservations. The menu is clearly marked with gluten free and vegetarian options. The food was delicious. They make their corn tortillas in house and taste authentic. The quesadilla portion is huge. I am doing dry January so can’t really talk about the cocktails . But the plan is to definitely go back. They do have patio seating and also a private dining room. They have complimentary corn chips with 4 types of salsa. They also have a happy hour menu. They also had live music . We ordered quesadillas with corn tortilla and chicken rings taco and it was awesome. The quesadilla portion was huge. Would highly recommend a visit to this place .

Their food was delicious, and drinks were awesome. Service was exceptional, and our waitress was super nice. She's assisted us in picking food items by recommending popular foid items and drinks. I loved their tacos with street corn. Also, the complimentary chips with 4 different sauces were a great start, along with guacamole. I highly recommend this place to everyone. This restaurant is also inside what used to be a church. Which makes it more interesting and has a great atmosphere.

Shant K — Google review

Great place for a team dinner. Food was good, but the watermelon salad was a bit too salty. The Yucca fries were delicious. The cocktails were tasty but couldn't really taste any alcohol in them.

Jim P — Google review

The church history is cool but it's the food you should care about. Guacamole was a little bland and the queso was ok. But the tacos and drinks were outstanding. Coconut shrimp and beef tacos were standouts, corn tortillas made well. Great service, cool people. And so many types of tacos leaves me wanting more!

What an experience to dine in at a historical church! It's amazing to see how they have put this beautiful church into get use after being abandoned. Our waiter, Frank, was great and made our experience that much better. If you are in the area, make sure to stop by to try out their amazing food! You will not be disappointed.

We don't make it up to Phoenix very often, but this was a restaurant that I had been waiting to try. We went to a show and it seemed like the perfect chance to at least check out the outside and see if it was something we wanted to eat.Walking in, I was amazed by the old mission style decor, the huge chandelier and the beautiful stained glass. It's a very open style dining room but it's still feels warm and cozy. It wasn't overly busy, and we were seated right away. Our waiter, Frank was very personable and had great speedy service. We ordered the green chili queso and I'm not even exaggerating when I say my husband and I both wanted to drink it and take a bath in it. Their chips were crispy and the complimentary salsa was also absolutely delicious.Next we went with a plate of chicken tinga enchiladas with rice and beans, street corn and two tacos. We had the carnitas taco and the chicken tinga taco. First off, they do not skimp on the meat. Secondly, they hand make all the corn tortillas. And it shows. They were thick and chewy and had a great mouthfeel. The enchiladas were cheesy and the roja sauce was earthy and a bit spicy but not overly so.I will make the drive up to Phoenix anytime to come back and eat at the Taco Guild. Give it a try, you definitely won't regret it.

As someone from the East Coast, I visited Phoenix on a whim, and with the only intent being to find "Mexican food that I simply can't track down easily back home." Every single stop for tacos was, of course, on a different scale than any Mexican food I'd had a chance to try before, but Taco Guild was a special little stop while on a vintage clothes shopping spree in the nearby area. Our server was extremely helpful in making the 'best of the best' choices off the menu, and was beyond knowledgeable on how to dissect it around a Celiac Allergy. That alone always makes me feel seen and special. The trio of tacos offered were beyond any expectation. House pressed soft corn tortilla. Every ounce of love and care needed to make the ingredients shine independently and as a cohesive unit. If you get a hankering for some really, really good Mexican Cuisine, I had zero regrets across the board.Extra Extra points for the stained glass murals and open, vaulted ceilings. The decor, atmosphere, and overall presentation leaves a memory I'll admire fondly. And food that I'll be envious I can't find easily now that I'm back home. 5/5 across the board <3

I had a wonderful evening spending time with some friends at this location. It was my first time here and the food and drinks were delicious! I had the enchiladas and Pineapple Penicillin cocktail. I would highly recommend both. I also love the atmosphere of the restaurant and the chips and salsa served comes with 4 different salsa choices, which was awesome. The next time I visit Phx area, I would love to come back again!

FEED ME TACOS AND TELL ME I'M PRETTY!I heard of this place on food TV and I love Tacos so, there you go. I live in Seattle, and This is one of the first places I think of returning to every time I'm in town. I've been here a few times now, and it doesn't disappoint... well, perhaps in one area.My most recent visit had me eating their day before Thanksgiving special... a Thanksgiving-inspired taco with turkey, cranberries, mashed potato, and other flavors of the big meal. This, alongside a falafel taco and a fish taco... love fish tacos. All three were amazing. I've had other interesting tacos, including the duck. Their tortillas are lovely too. I'm a corn tortilla fan, and at this place, I'm a flour tortilla fan as well. The Chips are light and thin, very crisp, and yet still allow me to dig into their fabulous salsas! I can be a bit of a spice wuss, but sometimes the flavor is so good I sweat it out.The inventive cocktails are great, too. It's all just too much to list here so I'll toss up a couple of pics, and you'll just have to check out the menu or stop in to see what the specials are... Turkey Taco! Our server was more than attentive and her recommendations were spot on.Now for the area of needed improvement. On my first trip in a few years ago, they had this amazing phrase mounted and illuminated on their wall next to the entry. I so wanted a T-shirt of it... apparently, men don't like to be fed Tacos or to be told they are pretty because, like back then my trip a few weeks ago I was met with the same disappointment... No men's T-shirt with "Feed me tacos and tell me I'm pretty", only women's. I'm not opposed to a snug-fitting T but ladies T's just aren't cut right for my 6' 4" stature. Perhaps I'll have to whip one up myself.Happy Tacoing!

Friends told us to eat here while visiting AZ and we are so glad we did. Everything on the menu looked amazing! We ordered so much food so we could try a bunch of different things. Everything we had was great! As someone who lives in a foodie city, this is the best food we’ve had on vacation in a long time! Definitely give it a try :)

We love finding converted churches when we travel and this place didn't disappoint! The atmosphere and food were great for a Valentine's Day meal -- even with our kids. It was one of our favorite meals on our trip. The churros were a hit too. Our server was great.

I've been sitting on my thoughts about Taco Guild because my initial thoughts were, I'm probably not going back.I live in the neighborhood, just recently moved here from Tempe. My neighbors suggested this place when we moved in. I've just been busy and hadn't taken the time to stop in. My son and I decided to go there after a busy week at work. Friday night. It's late, nearly 9pm when we both agree that we need food, something quick and still open. We hate to be the people that show up as the restaurant is closing. We checked hours online and taco guild was closing at 11pm so we felt safe to head over and still be in the flow of their meal service We got there around 930pm and there was a sign on the door saying they were closing at 10pm. We almost turned around and left but figured we'd try. We didn't want fast food and we knew if we drove somewhere else, we might miss their last call for food. So we went in.The server told us last call was at 930 but they'd make an executive call to let us order if we could figure it out quickly.I have vision issues and the menu was hard to read in the dark lighting. I picked a few items that I figured I'd enjoy, guacamole, shrimp taco and chicken tinga taco. The guacamole was ok. It needed some additional acidity but we ate it. My son liked it. But the tacos, I did not enjoy. The corn tortilla was very very thick. It wasn't tender and it felt doughy in texture. The shrimp was cooked but cold and it lacked seasoning. The tinga was flavorful but dry. It didn't seem to have any sauce either. We asked about ordering churros to take with us to go at the end of the meal. She said we could but they would get cooked with our meal and would sit waiting for us until we could eat it. I really just wanted to enjoy the meal in the restaurant and we felt rushed. You can see, they put the chairs up in the dining room and we had just gotten our food.Between the experience of feeling rushed and the fact that I spent $50 plus tip for a torta, two tacos, a corona and some guacamole, I'm just not sure I'll be ordering meals again. The portions were generous, so that's promising, I mentioned that to our server and she said they put 6oz of meat in every tacoI can say that the vibe and the atmosphere and decor makes me want to come back to drink and eat chips and salsa.

I love this place! The food is always great and some of the servers have been here for years so you know they are invested in making your dining experience the best!

Taco Guild is a good Mexican Restaurant located in Phoenix Arizona. The decor of the restaurant is unique. The building was previously a church, so there are incredible stained glass windows in the restaurant. The menu consists of Mexican dishes taken to a new level, for an appetizer I ordered Green Chili Queso, with jalapeño and bacon; the queso was exceptional.I ordered several tacos for my entree, one taco stood out from the rest. My favorite taco was the Lobster Taco, with large chunks of lobster throughout the taco. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

A MUST! I can not say enough about this place! Beautiful, delicious, and delightful! Atmosphere is divine, food is beyond delicious, and entire staff from door to back were amazing! Gorgeous bar with the most amazing drinks!10 out of 10 and will soon go again 🫶Live music was excellent!

What a treat! "Nacho" average, typical taco joint, thankfully. The flavors were deep, the ingredients freshly made and unique, along with friendly and helpful service. Fresh chips, four salsas, elote and queso with homemade chorizo started the meal off perfectly. Homemade corn and flour tortillas provided a canvas for the pork belly, fish, scallop and duck confit ingredients overflowing in each exceptional bite. Margarita and IPA on draft rounded out the perfect Saturday night. Will be back!! 🫵🏼👍🏼✌🏼💪🏼🔥

This is one of the best places I have ever been to, when you come here you get a table super fast and the waitresses are amazing, our waitress, missy was one of the most kind people I have seen in the restaurant business. The Guild sampler was AMAZING. The stuffed churros and chocolate cake were some of the greatest desserts I have ever had. 10/10 atmosphere, 10/10 food, and 10/10 service. Highly recommend this place :)

Taco Guild has great food and drinks. The house made corn tortillas and carnitas are so good! I also got a lettuce wrapped shrimp taco. The street corn is some of the best I’ve ever had. Worth the drive from Scottsdale! Being in an old church is unique. Both times we went it was chilly in the restaurant so grab an extra layer and go enjoy an amazing taco and margarita!

The restaurant was recommended by a coworker. The arrive was great and Misty was professional and pleasant. The chipotle cherry steak taco was delicious. I also had the fish and duck taco which were not that bad either lol. Great restaurant with a pleasant staff!

Since you guys took the lamb tacos off the menu I have been making my own. Please bring back your lamb tacos. They are a winner every single time. Every time you change the lamb tacos you always come back to the original and it's because you can't beat it. Please bring them back your locals love them!

Extremely cool place and really good menu. They do make the corn tortillas fresh so id recommend those. A good thing to note is these tacos are huuuge. I'm glad i only ordered 2. we tried the empanadas and the yuca fries. The yuca fries were good but nothing to write home about. The empanadas were delicious. The horchata wasn't that good, so I wouldn't recommend it. I had a chipotle cherry and a duck confit. Both were fantastic. Definitely check this place out and try a couple! Thanks guys

Jacob G — Google review

Wow what a big disappointment! I have been wanting to try this place for a while. All the reviews make the food sound delicious. However I don't not agree, I tried 4 different tacos. The cherry steak, scallops, fish, and chicken. Scallops were the best one! Chicken was bland and mushy, they need to just grill the meat (it would change the flavor for the better). Fish was okay but it needs a special sauce to come out with it because it's on the dry side. The cherry steak has good flavor but I honest liked the meat out of the taco. We had these all on corn tortillas which were hand made in house. In my opinion they are a lil thick and dry, somewhat good flave but takes over the flavor of the taco and makes it a lil too dry to eat! Also had the street corn off the Cobb. I do not recommended having off the Cobb cause it taste different for sure. And the corn was the best part! Spent $50 tonight and I don't really think it was worth it!On the better side of things this place is absolutely beautiful! I'm in love with the stained glass and atmosphere!

It was our 41st wedding anniversary, and we were delighted to find this beautiful restaurant to celebrate. We loved everything about it - the food was delicious, the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was mind-blowing. It was touching how true to its roots they stuck when conceptualizing this restaurant. The stained glass windows, the bar "altar" area, the pews for seating, and the photo collages of the original church and parishioners. All just so charming and we absolutely loved it. So much so that when we had family in from out of town a few weeks later, we couldn't wait to bring them there! Shout out to our lovely server, Kelly. She was a doll!! We wish the Taco Guild the best of everything - thanks for a beautiful place to come for dinner!!

Easily one of the best taco places I have been to! The size of the taco is tripled the size of normal street tacos, hence the price. You only need 2-3 to fill up.Chips & House selection of salsas - 5/5- Chips were so light and crispy and the salsas were so fresh and you have 4 to dip fromChipotle Cherry Steak Taco on Corn tortilla - 5/5- The amount of different flavors and textures on this taco is a foodie’s dream! Highly recommend this savory and delicious tacoBaja Fish Taco on Flour tortilla - 3.5/5- This taco was so large but lacked from flavor from the fish. The crispy fish was also soggy when I got to it so if you order it, eat it first!Street Style Carnitas Taco on Corn tortilla - 4/5- Loved this taco because of its simplicity and amount of carnitas but carnitas was semi-dry and I needed to add my street corn to rehydrate it.Side: Mexican Street Corn (spicy) - 5/5- Loved this side pairing and it wasn’t overly spicy, had just enough of a kick!My server, Mike, was phenomenal! He was so quick, friendly, and attentive. I asked him for his recommendations (items I ordered above) and he didn’t disappoint! The ambiance around is very unique and beautiful. It’s a great place to be casual while enjoying an amazing meal!

When you walk into the Taco Guild the atmosphere is amazing. It's an old church that has been transformed into a beautiful restaurant. I love how the Taco Guild has retained the old church character. As for the food it'svery good. The thin tortilla chips and 4 salsas were fantastic. Multiple flavors from mild to spicy. I thankfully only ordered one soft, homemade corn tortilla taco. It was filled to the brim with braised pork. The margaritas were great. This is such a beautiful iconic restaurant that I recommend.

Leslie K — Google review

What a great experience. The food was amazing, especially the yucca fries, salsa varieties, and lobster taco. Frank, gave good and polite service. The atmosphere of the old church was amazing. I will definitely be back here to try more items on the menu. One of the best dining experiences I've had in quite some time. Bravo, keep up the good work.

Came here by chance and had a great lunch. Our server was Ally(?) and she helped with some recommendations. For drinks I had Dos XX’s 🍺 and water. I started off with guacamole that was very good; and complimented the various salsas they brought out with chips. Enjoyed them all. Then I went with the lamb 🐑 taco on a flour tortilla. Generous portion served. The meat was very tender and juicy too. The side of corn was very good as well. The meal was filling, but not so filling that I couldn’t try the rum cake with ice cream and caramel sauce. That, I couldn’t finish; so I took it ‘To Go.’ I’ll definitely return as my friend had the cherry beef that he says was better than the pulled pork. Great time sitting outdoors on the small patio area.

Excellent ambiance and great food choices. First time here recommend by a friend, and it was the best. The lamb tacos and shrimp were delicious and the service were top notch. It was quick, food was excellent, and a great flavors. The fish and cauliflower tacos were good too. The salsas served were excellent in taste. Overall highly recommended this place and would be back for more.

Tacos during church? No. Tacos AT church? AMEN! Dining on tacos in an old church is unique, to say the least. Eating some of the best tacos you’ll ever put in your pie-hole in an old church with beautiful murals tops my list of taco eateries. Dining at Taco Guild is a culinary experience. The food and service are outstanding. Expect to have a good time and create a few new, happy gastronomical memories. The house-made corn tortillas are delicious! The complimentary chips with four salsas started the party, along with herbaceous guacamole. I’m not a fan of lamb, but the server recommended it as one of the four tacos I ordered. It was pure foodgasm, as were the chipotle cherry steak, street style carnitas, and crispy pork belly versions I happily consumed. The street corn is not to be missed. If you’ve never had it, order it. Thank me later. I like that the husks were left still attached because they can serve as a handle, and they heavily garnished the corn with butter, Crema, Tajin, cotija and cilantro. At the end of my meal, I saw a server walk by with a bowl of their Green Chili Queso. I couldn’t resist. My curiosity got the best of me, and I’m glad it did. Make sure you order it with the chorizo. They offer a quesadilla, torta (sandwich), and salad on their menu. But since the word was out that their tacos are “the bomb,” I couldn’t invest stomach space to commit to a sandwich and a salad. It had to be tacos for me and that was the right choice. Their tacos were some of the best I’ve ever eaten, hands down.As for the service, it is just as superb as the food. Taco Guild makes sure your dining experience is positive from the time you walk in the door to the time you leave. The restaurant clearly marks the menu with gluten-free and vegetarian options. I look forward to my return visit. Well done Guild.

Great spot in Phoenix with a really cool atmosphere. I went here for an after work dinner with collogues and had a great time. We booked ahead of time and secured the outdoor patio for our group. We were assigned a waiter who was excellent and attentive. He managed the whole group of 10 with drinks, chip/salsa refills, and got all the orders correct.Food is excellent and a there is a good variety to choose from. The atmosphere is what really sells this place and the bathrooms are cool to. A little cashy but nothing to far above the surrounding eateries.

We're never disappointed when we grab a bite at this unique taco spot.At our latest visit, on a Wednesday evening, the place was hoping, but the hostess was very understanding about the change in our party number under our reservation and was able to make quick adjustments.Frank was a kind and attentive server.Food is delicious and incredibly flavorful. Definitely have to try the barbacoa tacos and fish tacos!Enchiladas, burritos, and steak tacos are tasty, too, as well as the seasonal sangria!

The BEST taco I ever had! Traveling in AZ and came here with friends. The tacos are very special and delicious! Three tacos are a decent size meal. The atmosphere gives you a church feeling. I will come back for sure next time I am in Phoenix.
